Lagos, Portugal : Part 1

Lagos is a rustic town in Portugal's Algarve. Its coast is chopped up with the strength of the Atlantic ocean, renowning it for having some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

I've been here for four full days and I've just (about to use a cliched word) wanderlusted about. The first day I lay by the pool and read. I'm reading J.D Salinger's 'The Catcher in the Rye'. I don't even don't what to make of it, even though I'm half way through it. I'm enjoying it nonetheless.

Medieval Gate

I see a dog...
...approaching dog...

Dog was non-responsive to me...Burned!

The next day we rented a car. I've been the designated driver. I must say, it was quite the novelty driving on the RIGHT side of the road on the left side of the car on the motorway. I've picked it up quite easily...

We drove to a place called Villamour, about an hour away.

Sunday arrived.

And with it came the moral obligation to go to mass. Yes, MASS!

In 27 degree heat my Mother and aunt had me in a beautifully ornate chapel may I add, for 1 hour and 10 mins listening to a Portugese version of mass.

I was silently quoting Father Ted quotes to keep myself amused...

..."Sure didn't the Lord himself go on holiday for two weeks to get away from his Father..." I murmured to myself.

In a bid to divert their attention from actually going into mass: "Mammy g'on take a photo of me"

Thankfully, an hour later I was on the beach...

My beach bag contents

Keep an eye out for a few more posts...

Remember to have a look at my 'Packing Process' video on how I managed to fit 10 days of outfits into cabin luggage.

July Days

The month of July, thus far, has been a perfect Summer cliché with hot days with not a cloud in the sky, ice-cream, beach, shorts, sun-cream, fresh fruit and the ocean glittering from catching the sun's rays. Ireland is not renowned for having beautiful sunny weather, so you can imagine the entire population's delight when we were forcast a heatwave. I, having time off,  found that this was the perfect time to put together a few summer outfits to enjoy the summer days.

 1940s Inspired outfit

                                                                                                       Green and Gold

                                                                                                80s Sunset Boulevard Inspired

As I'm sheet white I wanted a good tan to give me a natural glow. I need dark tans to actually make me look like I've some colour. Out of all the tans I found the least likely and cheapest the best for me as it gave me the right amount of colour.
Out of all my tans I found that St Moriz the most effective in colour and lasting power.

Of course, before tanning it's important to exfoliate and moisturise, my favourites this month has been...

'Soap and Glory's Pulp Friction Body Scrub

'Soap and Glory's 'Clean on Me' Shower Gel

...and for that extra scent 'The Body Shop's 'Atlas Mountain Rose' Shower Gel

I'm so conscious of my skin and the potential damage the sun can cause, so I've been using Garnier's Ambre Solaire SPF 50 on my face, I found that this was great as it didn't clog my pores or cause any breakouts.

Since the weather has been scorching I found that the thought of wearing makeup all day was daunting, so having this NO.7 BB cream for Fair Skin was the perfect alternative to makeup during the peak time. The coverage is good and it has an SPF of 15.

I'm a serious cereal addict and I've been recently loving this combo of Bran flakes, porridge oats and Almonds. You'll love it, especially when watching an episode of 'Frasier'  :P I guarantee it, not to mention how healthy it is.

I'm an introvert, so having my solitude in the garden to read has been absolute bliss for me.

My second-write up for 'Wise Craic' magazine has been published, I'm so proud of it. It can be read online on pages 14 &15 Click here.

My boyfriend and I have been spending time at the beach in Buncrana, Donegal.

                                                                                                 Loving the sun

My Boyfriend trying on my sunglasses. lol He actually suits them, he looks like a French artist.

I've been teaching my wee nephew how to play hopscotch, I loved this as a child.

Since been given an amazing acting opportunity I've dug out my books from my Drama Degree, I'm so excited for this once in a life-time opportunity.

So that has been what I've been up to, what have you been doing? I'd love to know.

I also have a new facebook page promoting my blog, check it out at The Red Dutchess facebook page

Thanks for reading. x <3 C

OCC Conscience Clear Tan- RoCo

I embrace my redheaded traits of freckles and pale-ness, but last week I was anticipating going to Dublin to see my Queen, Beyonce, in concert and then going out afterwards, and I wanted to feel extra fierce. Much to my pleasure, RoCo, the most internationally renowned eco-organic hair and beauty salon in Ireland offered me to come along to try out their new tan. RoCo  and their unique products have gained prestigious awards due to their talented and trained (on a universal scale) owners, Ronan and Conor, hence RoCo. Their ethos "is simple, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle"  Not forgetting their diverse staff of beautifully dressed females and males, it's like a fashion show in their salon. RoCo is more than just a salon, it's a gathering of talent, beauty and damn good appreciation of everyone. It's like a big place where people gather for therapeutic benefits. It's a place where I am at complete ease due to their hospitality, vast menus of teas, coffees and the odd tipple (yes) and endless entertainment whether it be a local band or artist dropping in and doing their thing. RoCo is an endless exhibition of unprecented and avant-garde modern art.

So, as you can imagine, I took my blue-white body off to get sprayed with RoCo's new "Natural, Odourless Tan, with Certified Organic Ingredients from Ireland" and of course as I walked in I was seduced by the smell of their famous 'Shine' spray (Smells like coconut) that is considered by Celebrity Hair and Make-up artist, Billy Orr, as ''amazing looks like glass when used with a straightener...I was blown away with how it left the hair". It has also won an 'Image Beauty Award'-It's that good.

So since my serotonin levels were on a high with the wonderful environment of RoCo, I happily was escorted into the tanning room and was sprayed by Ciara, who just happens to be the winner of Miss Earth, Northern Ireland, and currently features in RoCo's promotional video for OCC tan. Yes, RoCo is a place of beautiful people, inside and out...they're organic.

I chose the 'Dark' shade of tan, out of the three shades of 'Light', 'Medium' and 'Dark' as I'm very pale need quite a dark shade. I was impressed that I had the option to choose which shade I wanted and thought it was very efficient for everyone with every colour of skin.

So after I was sprayed I was left in the tranquil room to dry in, and to get ready again when it suited me. I was so surprised at how quick and easy the whole process was, I was promising myself that this would be a frequent thing for me now as I was thoroughly enjoying the quick, yet transformative experience.

As I left I was  so happy with the colour already and as the day progressed I was getting darker. I couldn't believe that there was no dominant smell, and even my boyfriend confirmed this, he said ''it's great that you don't smell like Chinese food'' , I was happy I didn't smell like Chinese food either because it always puts me in the mood for Chinese food. (Yucky I know)

As the time came for me to wash I was so happy that the colour didn't wash or fade away and I was unbelievably happy with the results, the tan had exceeded all my expectations, and I went out in Dublin that weekend feeling more glamorous than I have felt in a good while, all thanks to RoCo.

I encourage you to visit RoCo's website for more information- RoCo
