The Streets of Bavarian Germany

You'll find that when you go to Nuremberg, Germany there is an overwhelming beauty in everything, from the architecture to the food. A city steeped in Bavarian history, you'd be mistaken for thinking it was a film set from a Christmas movie, or a little cuckoo clock scene.
I've been to Nuremberg a lot of times and this time I went for my boyfriend's birthday as he lives there. As a vintage soul, I was delighted to discover that there was an antique market taking place all weekend. So I'm sharing with you the beautiful aspects of the city and all that the markets had to offer!
I hope you enjoy!

Nuremberg Markets

Coming to Nuremberg makes me I feel like part of me is coming home. Whether it's due to the fact that my boyfriend lives here or because the city of Nuremberg is surrounded by historic walls, just like my home city of Derry, I think it's a very rare, but a beautiful thing, to have a sense of familiarity in a city I've only visited a couple of times. Perhaps I lived here in a past life?

I'm currently perched on the edge of the Rudolf red sofa in my boyfriend's apartment, right in the middle of this picturesque city of Bavarian Nuremberg, and I'm so content. I've had the most relaxing long weekend of napping, eating, snuggling and of course, soaking up the atmosphere of the infamous Nuremberg Christkindlesmarkt. So before we head back home to Derry for Christmas I just want to share with you a little insight to our festive weekend.

I hope you've enjoyed this little peek into what it's like in Nuremberg during this time of year.

Thank you for reading.

Bamberg, Germany

On the Monday of my Germany trip my boyfriend took me to Bamberg.
Bamberg is a historic city that still holds much evidence of the time when it was once under the Holy Roman Empire in the 12th Century. Bamberg's preservation of the Roman influence deemed it a city worthy of being listed in UNESCO world heritage site. (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as of special cultural or physical significance)
So you can imagine my delight, as a nosey history nerd, upon arriving in this little city that was host to prior centuries of every day living.

Let me tell you about our beautiful day.

A Sunday in Nuremberg, Germany

Last week I posted about my Saturday in Germany, which you can read here- 'A Saturday in Nuremberg'

The following Sunday was packed full of German history and culture, and that’s what travelling is all about, right? I love to travel to experience a country in all its glory.

So the Sunday began with an amazing brunch with my boyfriend and his friends. It was a balmy autumn morning and we gladly accepted the Sun’s invitation to sit outside and enjoy his company whilst eating our numerous plates of melon, yoghurt, doughnuts, waffles, meats, cheese- aw I’m torturing myself recalling this to mind.

A Saturday in Nuremberg, Germany

Once upon a time there was a redheaded Queen (not innocent enough to be a Princess) who travelled to ol' Bavarian Germany to spend some royal time with her monarchic counterpart.
After enduring much exchange of chariots and drinketh of tea, the Queen arrived at her Royal bae’s castle.

O.K, it wasn’t exactly as dramatic as that. The thing is that my boyfriend lives in Germany, and so I went to visit him. After arriving in Nuremberg (the city in which he lives) in Germany on a Friday night, although exhausted, we went to the most cosy bohemian Mexican place where we both had Chorizo Burritos. Delicioso!!  I mean… SCHMACKHAFT!!
