A Wedding in Rome

I sit here writing this post whilst listening to the rain pelting off the windows, it feels like bullets wounding my daydream and bringing me back to reality. There is a soft rosy hue from the lamp beside me, it reminds me of its company with a subtle flicker now and then. It’s my only form of light now since darkness is winning the battle with the light of day.

I’m listening to ‘Benedictus’ by the 2Cellos with my earphones in whilst Peter Barlow is pleasantly silenced, sparing me from his insufferable acting, and letting me imagine that there’s a completely different plot…and I suddenly I think ‘What if I were a screen writer?’. – No chance Caroline, you’d not be able to turn Coronation Street into a Sherlock Holmes meets The Lord of the Rings musical with the fashion of the Upper East Side.
I give the thought up immediately.

It continues to rain, and I find myself in a daydream again. This time I find myself staring at a Weeto on the floor that I seemed to have dropped when I decided to have a bowl of Weetos an hour ago.
I stare at the Weeto and find it’s crusty circular circumference reminding me of the Colosseum, and I find myself lamenting my brilliant time at the wedding in Rome I was at recently with spectacular people who I’d love to be sharing wine with this very evening.
So, my blog post is dedicated to the amazing friends and my gentleman of a boyfriend for making my time in Rome one that will be remembered with all the eternity of the city of Rome itself.

Autumn Makeup

I'm writing this post as an ode to autumn, via my makeup. Whilst I love autumn, I must admit that I'm excited to get away to the sun tomorrow. (Keep an eye out for more travel posts).

Yet, whilst I'm in the process of packing summer clothes, I can't deny that I'm embracing Autumn colours, especially since it's the perfect season if I, a redhead, decided I wanted to camouflage for some...weird...reason, anyway.  I love makeup, and I've always watched my Mama, aunt and sister put on their makeup since a very young age.
I'm not a makeup artist, but I know what suits me the most in terms of colour and look, so here's how I change my makeup to cohere with the colours that autumn brings us.

I love maroon, burgundy colours combined with my staple neutrals, and of course, my black eye liner. I also chose to have a pinkish nude lipstick and a little lip gloss.

I've Been Getting Naked!

Yes!
I have been getting NKD, in the Vita Liberata sense of the word that is.

Vita Liberata, in case you didn't know, is an Irish based company (Hooray! for our home brands) that specializes in fake tanning that's, what Alyson Hogg founder and CEO of the brand says is, " safe, healthy, glowing...and non-toxic". Ireland is nation in dire need for a  'wee colour about us' for we're a pale bunch, especially my fellow redheads and I.

I've been in the Sun a lot recently, but I wear Factor 50 which means there's no hope of getting a tan. (Who am I joking, I'm a redhead, it would take a month for my skin to go from blue to white to yellow to an 'alive looking' colour)
However, I always turn to wearing Vita Liberata's  'pHenomenal 2-3 Week Tanning Mousse' as  gives me a nice lasting glow without having to worry about sun damage. It also gradually wears off without leaving me looking like I've snake skin. This tan is actually House of Fraser's 'Tried and Tested: Tan on Trial' overall winner. The brand is also used by the 'Four Seasons Spa' in Paris, the best Spa in Europe and the 2nd best in the World.

Need I say anymore?

So, with all this in mind, you can imagine how excited I was when I recently received a bottle of Vita Liberata's new tan, 'NKD SKN Tinted Mousse' in 'Medium.

This week is important/busy for me and I've a Wedding to go to, to add to the excitement. That means that there's no better time than to get NKD!

Time to get down to the nitty gritty (applying the tan that is!!! --- Get your mind out of the gutter here people)

I showered and exfoliated, then once I fully dried down I pumped the tan onto the mitt.
At first I couldn't believe how smoothly and quickly it went onto my skin, it was also a gorgeous tint.
I had applied the tan in about 5 Seconds... O.K that's a bit of an exaggeration, but I had it on so quickly because the formula is so light, and not at all sticky (Bonus! I was able to put my clothes on immediately)

You can clearly see how natural the tan looks as it's applied. So far I'm very, very impressed with it because realistically, how often are we able to just put on a coat of fake tan and put on our clothes immediately after? We actually have to do some sort of secret dance to dry quicker with most formulas (Or is that just me?)

If you're interested in trying it out I assure that you won't be disappointed.
You can find out more about Vita Liberata and shop their products on their website: Vita Liberata

If you'd like to see how this tan has lasted keep an eye on my Facebook Page: The Red Dutchess
& Instagram: Red_Dutchess

I'll be doing regular posts on how it has developed, lasted and worn off.

Thanks to Vita Liberata, and thank you for reading.

Colour The Grey Away

I couldn't believe that I was swimming in the Mediterranean on the Monday and then able to come home  from Spain to go swimming in the Atlantic on the Thursday, all because our wee Emerald Isle was having a love affair with the Sun. But sure like all public affairs the nation bathed in its scandal and then once the  proverbial 'honeymoon period' was over there was nothing...

The mistress woke up in a heavy cloud of confusion as The Sun had left her. Would he be back? Would she feel his finger rays of heat and light tickle her again? We all sat under her misery as she cried, thinking Ireland would turn into a tropical country.

Raging!

Anyway, I was well prepared for the 'I knew this would happen' weather because I got two little gems from my new favourite website, Garden Pharmacy.

Since Mr. Grey was now back on the scene with our poor misunderstood Eire, I decided to make use of these two newly purchased items to brighten up my mood.

Living in Derry doesn't give me access to all the products like I would get in London, so that's why when I found Garden Pharmacy I did a mental rave dance. *Big fish, Little fish, Cardboard box*

The Art Deco lipstick looks so beautiful and I chose No. 13.05- Deep Tango Red. For me this is perfect for both Summer and Winter because it's not too dark for summer, yet not overly bright for creating those vampy winter looks.

Then I spotted 'Essie', quite the evasive nail polish brand in my part of the woods, so I indulged in a little colour called 'Geranium'.

There I was, looking out the window at Ireland's fury and her tear soaked terrains.  At that  I tied up my hair, put on the nail polish, put on my lipstick and went out and braced the woman scorned.

If you'd like to check out any of the other colours in both the Art Deco lipsticks and Essie nail polish, just check out Garden Pharmacy's site- https://www.garden.co.uk/

Let me know if you ordered anything off this addictive site.
