Lagos, Portugal : Part 1

Lagos is a rustic town in Portugal's Algarve. Its coast is chopped up with the strength of the Atlantic ocean, renowning it for having some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

I've been here for four full days and I've just (about to use a cliched word) wanderlusted about. The first day I lay by the pool and read. I'm reading J.D Salinger's 'The Catcher in the Rye'. I don't even don't what to make of it, even though I'm half way through it. I'm enjoying it nonetheless.

Medieval Gate

I see a dog...
...approaching dog...

Dog was non-responsive to me...Burned!

The next day we rented a car. I've been the designated driver. I must say, it was quite the novelty driving on the RIGHT side of the road on the left side of the car on the motorway. I've picked it up quite easily...

We drove to a place called Villamour, about an hour away.

Sunday arrived.

And with it came the moral obligation to go to mass. Yes, MASS!

In 27 degree heat my Mother and aunt had me in a beautifully ornate chapel may I add, for 1 hour and 10 mins listening to a Portugese version of mass.

I was silently quoting Father Ted quotes to keep myself amused...

..."Sure didn't the Lord himself go on holiday for two weeks to get away from his Father..." I murmured to myself.

In a bid to divert their attention from actually going into mass: "Mammy g'on take a photo of me"

Thankfully, an hour later I was on the beach...

My beach bag contents

Keep an eye out for a few more posts...

Remember to have a look at my 'Packing Process' video on how I managed to fit 10 days of outfits into cabin luggage.

Hallowe'en 2014

This year I don't have the luxury of time to spend on creating Hallowe'en makeup looks like I did last year. However, I did gather some of my looks and hallowe'en outfits from previous years.
I hope you enjoy and perhaps get some inspiration for your own costume this year.

Travel Essentials

I love to travel, it's exciting and invigorating. Even the simple flights, trains and subway journeys all add to the experience. However, it's not the greatest feeling to be faced with the prospect of having the evidence of the lack of sleep under my eyes, the onset of a sore neck and makeup making it's way slowly south of my face.
To avoid these travel induced annoyances I make sure I have my essentials.

The Caroline Dress

I was so honoured when Lynsey McGarrigle, owner and designer of MoHawkDesigns, told me that the dress that I had modelled was officially called 'The Caroline Dress'.
Never have I had such a piece of art named after me. When I received photographs from Gavan, the photographer from the Topher Lily Fashion Show, I couldn't resist in sharing them and couldn't believe the fact that something so beautifully created, by an equally beautiful person, could be named after me.

Milanoo and I Do's

I was honoured to be invited to the most chic Wedding in Newcastle, in one of the most beautiful parts of Northern Ireland. I was disappointed in myself for having never been there before until the evening before the Wedding. I stayed in a gorgeous hotel on the foot of the Mourne Mountains.

Weeks before I was apprehensive about what I was going to wear. Choosing what to wear as a guest to Wedding always makes me feel somewhat anxious as I never want to draw too much attention to my choice of attire. This is because I believe that the day belongs to the Bride and her Bridesmaids. When I see people at a Wedding wearing white I feel like it’s the utmost form of disrespect towards the Bride.

That's why I chose to wear Green.

During my moments of pondering Milanoo, my new favourite and affordable website, were so kind to offer me a few items of clothing of my choice. It just so happens that when I browsed their items I spotted the dress I knew I would wear to the wedding.

I decided to add a subtle Grecian theme to my dress with touches of bronze from my shoes and jewellery. I wore Mac’s ‘Frost’ lipstick which has the most beautiful iridescent hint of Orange-Bronze.
My Boyfriend, one of the Groomsmen, looked so sharp in his suit and I thought the Navy was a nice complementary colour to my dress. (He also got to wear braces- a personal favourite)

I’ve teamed up with Milanoo so a reader can be in with a chance to win $20 to spend on their website. So keep an eye out for details very soon.

In the meantime have a look at their website to see if there are any items you would like.

TFNC Dresses

I was delighted when TFNC of, a high street clothing brand renowned for their ornate dresses that you can find in Topshop and Asos, asked me to review their latest stock, and style the dresses to my personal taste. So of course I was on it straight away. I went onto their website and feasted my eyes on their newest stock of beautiful and intricately designed dresses. I eventually decided on two dresses that were opposite in style and colour as I wanted to create two completely different looks.

The first dress I chose was styled with a Beyonce-esque and Amazonian theme in mind. I wanted a dress that said 'I'm an empowered woman, Independent and Fierce' and I felt this elicited just that.

The second dress was chosen with the intention to style it in a 'The Great Gatsby'/1920s style. The 1920s is my favourite era, I even went to my formal/prom in a 1920s theme, so it's an omnipresent style in my wardrobe.

I had so much fun styling my own photo shoot and doing my own hair and makeup for it.
Thanks to my good friend Mustafa of 'Yez Lifestyle Photography' for his unprecedented skill in photography and to TFNC.

Festive Eyes

I love experimenting with makeup, and I love changing my makeup to suit my mood, a theme and the season. Now that it's Christmas time I'm loving experimenting with metallic eyes. In the photos I show how a metallic eye can be so versatile by using different colours of lipstick for those glamorous nights out. By keeping my eyes the same, yet changing the colour of my lips, I was able to create various romantic, gothic and classic looks. Have a look and let me know which is your favourite look.

Metallic Eye

 1st Look
I decided to use a soft pink lip for a romantic and feminine look perfect for Christmas day.

2nd Look
With the red lips I created a vampish look, this would be perfect for a girls' night out.

                              3rd Look
Using a dark purple I swayed with a slight gothic look, another ideal look for a chic Christmas party.

                                        4th Look
Using a hot pink colour I created a very fun and edgy look, perfect for NYE

                                 5th Look
If you're not into wearing dramatic lip colours why not go for a neutral colour that can be worn during the day and night.

All the makeup I've used is a mix of drugstore and highstreet makeup. If you've any questions please contact me at
